17 weeks

How far along? 17 weeks

Due Date: August 2, 2011

Total weight gain/loss: 4 pounds

Maternity clothes? All maternity jeans and some maternity shirts mostly for length.

Stretch Marks? Nothing yet....hope it stays this way.

Sleep: Not too bad this week, but I'm back to having a MILLION CRAZY DREAMS every night!  Matt even said I was back to talking nonsense in one of my dreams the other night.  I apparently like to have nonsense conversations with him during my dreams and never remember them in the morning.

Best moment this week: It was actually this morning.  I worked 16 hours yesterday and took a nap at the hospital before driving the hour and a half home this morning.  When I got home, my hubby had completely cleaned up the kitchen (which I had destroyed with a million dishes from cooking on Sunday) and all of the dishes were hand washed and put away.  Sigh.......

Movement: Not yet....I occasionally get these twinges that I wonder if they are fetal movement and I just can't distinguish it yet.

Food cravings: Pretty much anything this week.  I'm just loving food!

Food aversions: CHICKEN!

Gender: We still don't know, but hopefully this baby will cooperate on March 4th.  Yes, that's right....our ultrasound appointment has been moved up to March 4th from the 7th.  Only 10 days until we get to see this little one!  Anyone have any guesses?

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Being able to "suck it in."

What I am looking forward to: Our big ultrasound and praying that we get good news that everything is perfect with our growing little one.

Milestones: Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Make Room for Baby

I thought this was a very cool link from the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.  I'm sure not many will find this as cool as I do, unless you're pregnant, have had a baby, or work with pregnant women.  I think it's pretty cool!

I Stand with Planned Parenthood

Did you hear? The House voted to bar Planned Parenthood from federal funding. They cut funding for HIV tests, cancer screenings, birth control, and more, putting millions of women and families at risk. We can’t let it go unanswered. It’s time for you and me to stand with Planned Parenthood. Sign the open letter to the reps who voted for this bill — and to the senators who still have a chance to stop it.
Don’t just reblog: SIGN IT!

I Signed.  Have you?

Oh how I adore guacamole!

How far along? 16 weeks

Due Date: August 2, 2011

Total weight gain/loss: 3 pounds

Maternity clothes? About 1/2 maternity clothes and 1/2 regular clothes.  All jeans are maternity now (thanks to my sweet friend, Camille, who is letting me borrow 2 pairs of her jeans from her pregnancy).  I wore my first maternity shirt yesterday and it was nice not to worry about having to pull it down constantly.  At home I'm still wearing regular comfy pants and shirts.

Stretch Marks? Nothing yet....hope it stays this way.

Sleep: A little better this week.

Best moment this week: Spending the day with my sister yesterday.  We went to her doctor's appointment and she got to hear the heartbeat for the first time.  Then we went to Babies R Us and it was nice to get to look at everything and pick up carseats and play with strollers with someone who has "been there, done that."  We had a fabulous (and way too filling) sushi lunch at one of our favorite spots in Indy and did a little more shopping at the mall.

Movement: Not yet....hopefully in the next 2-4 weeks.

Food cravings: Mostly savory carbs and guacamole and chips.

Food aversions: CHICKEN!

Gender: Still unknown, but hopefully that will change in less than 3 weeks.  (I'm still thinking GIRL.)

Labor Signs: Nada

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: The warm weather and being able to go for a walk around the neighborhood with the dog.  (Did this have to be pregnancy related?)

What I am looking forward to: Our big ultrasound and praying that we get good news that everything is perfect with our growing little one.

Milestones: Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
I feel like I look (and feel) so much bigger than what these pictures show.  I kept making Matt take multiple pictures because I kept saying they weren't showing my "bump" right.  Matt says it's just not there that much, but I beg to differ and so do my pants!

Apples and oranges

How far along? 15 weeks (on Tuesday)

Due Date: August 2, 2011

Total weight gain/loss: 2 pounds

Maternity clothes? Just 1 pair of Gap maternity jeans and a few maternity tops, but mostly regular comfy pants and my regular shirts still work.

Stretch Marks? Nada **crossing fingers it stays this way**

Sleep: The same.  Blah!  Tossing and turning every few hours and peeing about 3-5 times per night.  Now my sleep is also interrupted at 2 am when my lovely alarm goes off to tell me to eat a protein bar or some peanut butter to keep my blood sugar up.  Oh joy!

Best moment this week: Having my doctor's appointment on Thursday and finding out that my cervical length is perfect and long and all the cramping I've been feeling hasn't been doing anything to shorten it!  YIPPEE!  I also got to make our appointment for our big anatomy ultrasound (and if this little one cooperates, we'll find out the gender too) on March 7th!

Movement: Nothing yet, although it's still a little early.  I'm hoping to feel something by 20 weeks.

Food cravings:  FOOD in general and it varies day to day.  Lately it's been corndogs and guacamole.  (Not together -- I'm pregnant, not crazy).

Food aversions: The dreaded CHICKEN.  I may never look at it the same.

Gender: Hopefully we'll know on March 7th at 8:30 am.

Labor Signs: none

Belly Button in or out? Innie.
What I miss: Sleeping soundly at night.

What I am looking forward to: Our big ultrasound on March 7th.

Milestones:  Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements. Your baby is approximately the size of an apple or an orange.

For those who have been inquiring about the infamous "baby bump" pix, here's a little comparison for you.

Hello, 2nd trimester

How far along? 14 weeks

Due Date: August 2, 2011

Total weight gain/loss: 1 pound

Maternity clothes? 1 pair of maternity jeans and a few tops, but still getting by mostly with comfy pants and regular shirts.

Stretch Marks? Nothing yet....hope it stays this way.

Sleep: Pretty restless.  Aside from 3-5 trips every night to pee, I toss and turn all night long trying to find a comfortable position.

Best moment this week: Finally reaching my 2nd trimester!  Worst moment of the week?  Having my doctor's appointment canceled yesterday due to weather.  :(

Movement: still too early for this

Food cravings: Food in general.  Thankfully my nausea has passed, so now most everything sounds good to me.  I've been battling with hypoglycemia for the last 5 or so days, so I'm trying to include protein with every meal and focus on eating every 2-3 hours, which has proven to be a challenge.

Food aversions: CHICKEN!

Gender: unknown

Labor Signs: I've still had some mild cramping every day throughout my pregnancy, but no spotting since 6 weeks so hopefully everything is ok.

Belly Button in or out? Innie.

What I miss: Feeling like myself.  Since I didn't really know what pregnancy would feel like, I guess I assumed I would feel like myself until I was far enough along to feel the baby move.  Then I thought I'd feel like myself, but with a baby moving inside me and having to wear bigger pants.  Obviously, things have not happened like I thought they would.  (All of you who have had babies are probably laughing at me right now!)

What I am looking forward to: Not feeling so tired all the time.

Milestones: Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.
